Strengthen the systems and teams behind your programs.

Many programs grow faster than the infrastructure supporting them. Grant-funded work often has to start before workflows, documentation, and clear roles are in place, so dedicated staff fill the gaps with workarounds. I help organizations find what's getting in the way, then build the operations and team practices that make good work easier to deliver and sustain.

Four ways to work with me

The work falls under two themes, and strong programs need both: systems that make the work reliable, and teams equipped and aligned to carry it out.

A good place to start

Many organizations begin with an Operational Effectiveness Assessment. It's a defined, fixed-scope first step that shows what's getting in the way and what to address first. From there, improvement work often follows, with training and facilitation built in so changes take hold.

Other ways in

The four offers are not steps you have to follow in order. Some organizations start with a training or a facilitated planning session and decide later whether a deeper look at operations would help. Others bring me in for a single process that needs attention. We'll find the starting point that fits your situation.

“We created a new process, but people aren’t using it.”

If you've said something like this, any of these is a good place to start the conversation.

Common questions

Can this be paid for with grant funds?

Often, yes. Many funders support capacity building, training, and technical assistance. I can provide a scope and budget description to include in a proposal or budget modification.

How much of my team's time will this take?

I keep the burden light and plan around your calendar. We'll agree on who needs to be involved, and for how long, before any work begins.

Do you work in person or virtually?

Both. Most consulting work happens virtually. Trainings, retreats, and convenings can be in person, especially in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area.

Can I book a training or facilitation on its own?

Yes. You don't need an assessment first. Many organizations start with a workshop or a planning session.

Is this a program evaluation?

No. An evaluation asks whether a program is achieving its outcomes. My work focuses on how the work behind the program gets done, and on helping it run well.

What happens when the engagement ends?

You keep everything we build: maps, procedures, tools, and training materials designed for your team. The goal is for your staff to carry the work forward without me.

Do you work as a subcontractor?

Yes. I partner with organizations that hold technical assistance, training, and capacity-building contracts and need an experienced consultant, trainer, or facilitator on their team.

Not sure which fits?

You don't need to decide before we talk. Tell me what's happening, and we'll find the right starting point together.
